2019 Chardonnay
Hopkins River Ranch vineyard is owned and sustainably farmed by Bob and Toni Hopkins. Neighborhood grower-winemaker relationships like this are hidden gems and are what make small wine producers succeed with pride! The Russian River Valley AVA is famous for its ideal Chardonnay growing climate of foggy mornings, warm days and cool evenings.
We put our Chardonnay through secondary fermentation in the barrel. We barrel age with the lees (yeast), aka "sur lee aging," which allows us to control the acidity in the wine even further. Doing this develops a full mouthfeel with hints of toasted vanilla and caramel, without ending up with an overly buttery flavor profile.
Barrel fermented - 25% French oak, 100% malolactic fermentation.
